An Event that every ambitious Trail Runner (and those who want to be) should mark in red on their calendar. At the Stuiben Trailrun, the tallest waterfall in Tyrol, standing at 159 meters, serves as the centerpiece of the various disciplines. Regardless of the chosen distance, participants must climb exactly 728 intricately constructed natural and steel steps.

Disclaimer

By registering for the Stuiben Trailrun, the participant acknowledges the disclaimer of liability from the organizer for damages of any kind. They will not make claims against the organizer and sponsors of the event or against the owners of private paths or their representatives for damages and injuries of any kind that may arise from their participation in the event. They declare that they have trained sufficiently for participation in this competition and are in good physical health. The organizer and their team are responsible for the proper and safe conduct of the race; therefore, participants must follow the instructions of the organizing team, legal authorities, doctors, course marshals, and aid station staff. If a concerning health condition is noted by the organizers, the participant may be removed from the race. Furthermore, they confirm that they have liability and accident insurance. They agree that the data provided in their registration, along with any photos and video recordings taken of them, may be used without compensation claims. They assure that the stated date of birth is correct and that they will not transfer their start number to third parties. In case of cancellation due to force majeure (bad weather, etc.), the entry fee cannot be refunded. The organizer reserves the right to postpone start times of the respective events or make changes to the routes for specific reasons.

Rules & Safety

Participants have no claim to closed roads and routes. They must comply with the provisions of road traffic regulations and yield to all vehicles and other road users. Participants are personally responsible for violations and accidents resulting from non-compliance with these regulations. They must follow the instructions of the police. Vehicles may not be parked in forest paths or areas. Illegally parked vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense.

Cancellation & Transfer of Entry

Changes to another distance are possible until 06.05.2026, with payment of the difference in the entry fee plus a processing fee of € 5.-. If a distance is sold out early, a transfer is no longer possible. A corresponding notification must be sent to the organizer. The following cancellation conditions apply for the Stuiben Trailrun 2026:

  • For cancellations up to eight weeks before the event start, participants will receive a 70 % refund of the entry fee.
  • For cancellations up to four weeks before the event start, participants will receive a 50 % refund of the entry fee.
  • No refund of the entry fee will be made after the deadlines mentioned above.

Transfer of the start number (entry transfer) is only possible if officially communicated to the registration office, happens on the same route, and is completed by the official registration deadline!

FAQs

Getting there

You can reach Umhausen by car or public transport. By public transport, take the train to Ötztal Bahnhof station and then continue by bus to Umhausen. The bus runs every half hour throughout Ötztal valley.

Signposted parking areas are available. Free parking is available at Murplatz, Music Pavillion, Gemeindeamt (village hall), Mittelschule Umhausen (middle school), Raiffeisenbank and Bischoffsplatz areas.

There are several campgrounds in Umhausen and spread across Ötztal valley. For example, at Umhausen campsite or at other campgrounds in Ötztal. You can find all important details about camping options HERE.

Important note: Wild camping is not permitted anywhere in Ötztal valley and will be officially reported and prosecuted by the authorities!

There are countless partner hotels in Umhausen that also offer special deals for trail running participants.

Before the Start

The mandatory gear for each distance can be found HERE.

Free clothes transport to the finish area (Gasthof Stuibenfall) will be provided for all participants in the Stuiben Sprint. Please note: clothing bags must be dropped off at the start/finish area (backpack storage area) by 18:00 on race day.

Important Information:

  • Clearly label your bag with your start number
  • Do not pack valuables
  • No glass bottles in the drop bags

A backpack storage area will also be available in the start/finish area from 6:30 to 18:00 for the races on Saturday.

Start packages can be picked up at the Umhausen Information Office on the following days:

  • Thursday, 14 May 10:00 - 17:00
  • Friday, 15 May 8:00 - 20:00
  • Saturday, 16 May 5:30 - 13:00

The following cancellation policy applies to the 2026 Stuiben Trail Run:

  • For cancellations up to eight weeks prior to the event, participants will receive a 70% refund of the entry fee.
  • For cancellations up to four weeks prior to the event, participants will receive a 50% refund of the entry fee.
  • After the above mentioned deadline, entry fees will no longer be refunded.
  • Transferring a start number (giving it to another participant) is only possible if officially notified to the registration office, if it takes place on the same race course and occurs before the official registration deadline!

Changing your registration to a different distance is possible until 06 May 2026, upon payment of the difference in the entry fee plus a € 5 processing fee. Please notify the organizer accordingly.

Late entries are possible on-site up to one hour before the start of the respective race (only for distances with available start places) - an additional € 10 late entry fee applies (Stuiben Sprint: additional € 5 late entry fee)

On-site registration for WIDI Trail Run is possible until Friday, 15 May 2026, 15:00.

During the Race

The refreshment stations are listed on the detailed pages for each route. They offer a selection of water, isotonic drinks and suitable snacks such as fruit, energy bars as well as some hot meals. Detailed information will be sent to participants via email.

After the Race

Showers are available free of charge on Saturday at the Umhausen Middle School. They are located at about 300 meters from the event area.

On Saturday, 16 May, from 6:30 to 15:00, a comprehensive program with up-to-the-minute previews, split times, interviews and the best pictures and images of the competition will be streamed live on the Ötztal YouTube channel.
